Where and when do you feel out of place?? In which business situations? With what people?? During social activities?? We limit ourselves by the way we think.? In business, you must learn to think outside of your limitations to succeed.? Here are some tips to help you do just that:

1. Challenge widely held assumptions.? Many people get trapped in the herd mentality.? Expanding your creativity and comfort zone requires us to identify the assumptions about a problem and throw them out the window.? 4.? Give yourself permission to experiment.? We often kill creative ideas before we give them a chance.? What would the world be like today if people like Thomas Edison, the Wright Brothers and Alexander Graham Bell followed this pattern?? Give yourself permission to experiment.

5.? Discuss it with someone that sees the world differently than you.? We all know someone that sees the world through an entirely different lens than we do.? I suggest that you leverage that difference when you are up against a problem that seems especially difficult.? Their different view might expose your assumptions or give you the creative jumpstart you need to see a new solution.

Major recent earthquakes across the globe probably not linked

ScienceDaily (Aug. 2, 2012) ? The past decade has been plagued with what seems to be a cluster of large earthquakes, with massive quakes striking Sumatra, Chile, Haiti and Japan since 2004. Some researchers have suggested that this cluster has occurred because the earthquakes may be "communicating" across large distances, possibly triggering each other. But a new analysis by Tom Parsons and Eric Geist of the US Geological Survey concludes that the cluster could just as well be the result of random chance.

Each of the devastating quakes in the 2000s drew huge media coverage and required extensive rebuilding and economic restoration. The intense interest in the earthquakes has led some to wonder if we are living in the middle of an "age of great quakes," similar to a global cluster of quakes in the 1960s. It's important to know whether these clusters occur because big earthquakes trigger others across the world, Parsons and Geist say, in order to predict whether more severely destructive quakes might be on the way.

To determine if the quake clusters in the 1960s and 2000s could be attributed to random chance, the researchers looked at the timing between the world's largest earthquakes--magnitude 8.3 and above--at one-year intervals during the past 100 years. They compared simulated lists of large quakes and the list of real quakes during this time with the between-quake intervals expected from a random process. The intervals between the real-life large quakes are similar to what would be expected from a random process, they found. In other words, the global hazard of large earthquakes is constant in time. Except in the case of local aftershocks, the probability of a new large quake occurring isn't related to past global quakes.

This could be disappointing news for researchers who thought global communication between quakes might offer a way to predict the most severe seismic activity. But there also may be some good news after a decade of destruction. If global great earthquakes are occurring at random, the authors say, then a specific number of quakes that cluster together within a short time is unlikely to be repeated in a similar way over a 100-year span.

Meet tShirtOS, the first iPhone-controlled t-shirt with integrated washable display

tShirtOS lets you display anything and everything you want right on your t-shirt, and control it all with your iPhone and an iOS app. Wearable electronics could be a huge part of the future, both for fashion and functionality. Google is already jumping out of planes, and bringing us along for the ride, wearing their Glass technology. tShirtOS has a different goal, though. To make us the display. This system consists of a washable t-shirt with an integrated display panel and camera. It can then display Twitter updates, Facebook content, Instagram photographs and much more.

The display currently only supports a resolution of 32 x 32 which matches that of the tiny built in camera. It is made up of 1,024 tiny RGC LEDs which all connect back to a small PCB which has Bluetooth, USB, an accelerometer and a pair of headphone sockets. The processor for the project is still being decided upon with two prototypes currently in testing. One is an 8-bit processor and the other a 32-bit ARM Cortex processor. The t-shirt will be controlled via an iPhone 4S running at least iOS 5.0 or greater.

The bad news is that the technology is still in its infancy and costs a huge amount to make each t-shirt. CuteCircuit will be monitoring the interest in the product and will make a decision about making a cheaper consumer version in the future.

What Is the Best Treatment for Crohn's Disease that Is Proven?

Whether Crohn?s disease is mild or severe, it causes symptoms that are painful and embarrassing. Crohn?s disease is not curable, but there are many treatments available. Treating Crohn?s usually involves medications and dietary changes and varies according to the severity. Many people who have Crohn?s disease can manage it effectively with the help of medical care and are able to have productive, happy lives.

Mild cases of Crohn?s disease are typically treated with several types of medications. One is an antidiarrheal such as loperamide to slow down or stop the spasms that cause the diarrhea, the most common symptom of Crohn?s. Another is an aminosalicylate, such as mesalamine, which helps to reduce abdominal pain and diarrhea by reducing irritation in the intestines. Patients are advised to reduce or eliminate known triggers from their diet including caffeine, alcohol, and fatty or spicy foods. A low-fiber diet helps reduce the risk of diarrhea, which can irritate the intestines and trigger a flare-up.

For moderate cases of Crohn?s, in addition to an antidiarrheal and an aminosalicylate, a doctor will prescribe an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin to reduce inflammation and treat abscesses and fistulas. Antibiotics will usually work if aminosalicylates do not. A corticosteroid such as prednisone may also be prescribed to help reduce inflammation.

Corticosteroids can have serious side effects, however, so a doctor will only prescribe them if other types of medications are not sufficiently managing the symptoms. In some cases, corticosteroids are administered intravenously. As with mild cases of Crohn?s, dietary changes are also advisable.
The best treatment for severe Crohn?s disease is often an immunomodulator medication such as azothioprine.

Immunomodulators suppress and weaken the immune system, keeping the cells in the digestive system from attacking. These medications are used if other medications do not help or if symptoms reoccur frequently. If medications and dietary changes are not enough, a doctor may recommend surgery to remove a damaged area of the intestines and reconnect healthy areas. Once symptoms are under control, medications and dietary changes are used to prevent flare-ups and keep the disease in remission for as long as possible.

In addition to a low-fiber, low-fat diet, eating wholesome, natural foods will eliminate preservatives and toxins and may help prevent flare-ups. Using food combining will also reduce digestive stress and help with Crohn?s disease. Food combining is more than just a way to eat. It is a system of eating the right foods in the right combinations. When you eat foods that do not work together, your stomach must work harder and produce enzymes that conflict with each other. This leads to pain, diarrhea, bloating and gas.

Food combining eliminates this conflict. Your stomach will produce only one type of acid, making digestion easier and gentler for your system. This will help prevent the irritation that can cause Crohn?s disease to become active.
